A hail storm on Oct 17 2016 in the state of MN?
Wow, that’s the first time I’ve witness this in my lifetime and that’s more than 30 years of weather. Eagan and Cottage Grove MN both experienced a strong amount of 1″ – 1.5” hail (quarter size) for approximately five minutes during the late evening. Eagan hail damage has been spotted previously from a September 20th storm this year and they got hit again last night.
The hail was traveling with a heavy winds up to 50mph, these types of winds are considered damaging by the National Severe Storms Laboratory. Wind carrying hail stones the size of frozen grapes can cause major damage to homes, cars and crops.

So how can you identify a hail damaged roof or property damaged by the storm?
How to spot hail damage on your property
Inspect (from the ground) metal objects that may have been dented or dimpled by the hail stones. Typically a hail stone will be driven into gutters, A/C units, window wrapping and doors.
It’s best to check these areas first to determine the amount of damage that may have occurred during the storm.
What do you do if you think you have hail damage to your property?
The easiest thing to do is to call an expert in the field. You’ll want to call a storm damage restoration company in your area that can provide you with advice on what the next move is.
